Teething

yup.

I forgot to mention that Nolan has 2 teeth that cut through a couple of weeks ago. This may be no big deal to some, but for Nolan (and us) it means a lot of drooling, congestion, fever, and fussing. Pure joy.

a little glimpse of jealousy in the background.

Outtake

It's pretty funny going through all of the outtakes, here is one that Adella felt the need to jump in on..

I had to crop it down because a certain someone is in the final stages of potty training and prefers to run around in her birthday suit.

5 Months!

Here is Nolan's 5 month photo! He can now sit up on his own and play with toys, and he is loving all the "real" food we are giving him. His favorites so far have been carrots and sweet potatoes, and he pretty much refused to eat green beans. We're not sure how much he weighs at this point, but he is getting really heavy and I should also note that the onesie being worn in this photo is one of Adella's 18-24 month...

SoCal Snow Day

The community we live in hosts events throughout the year for residents, and this past weekend was the annual "Snow Day". We arrived early and watched the hired snow making company shred up the huge ice blocks and set up the hills for sledding. It was Adella and Nolan's first time ever touching real snow, or somewhat real.... and we invited some friends to join us for the day too. Tim wasn't able to sled because of his injury, and Adella wasn't thrilled with sledding, so we only went down the bunny hill a few times. She thought it was too cold, a true socal girl. The best part was that it was in the low 80's and no shoveling or winter gear was required.

Adella's friend Parker catching some air on the big hill.
Izzy!

The day ended with lot's of provided doughnut holes and a coffee bar that we took full advantage of. Can't wait till next year!!

Making progress...

Eat

Someone started solids!! We started giving Nolan oatmeal a couple weeks ago, hoping that it would help with sleeping.... annnnd we're still hoping that it will any day now! So we moved on from cereal and introduced veggies, which he has seemed to really enjoy. I made all of Adella's pureed foods when she was an infant and plan to do the same for Nolan. It's nice to know exactly what is going into my kids food.

Nolan is the happiest baby, and we rarely hear him cry, accept for at night when we're all trying to sleep. I think he's afraid of missing out on the action by sleeping, definitely doesn't get that from me...

Latest Obsession

Instead of working on one room at a time until completion, we have a tendency to jump around and do a little bit where we can. We have an idea of exactly what we would like for a room, but sometimes it just hasn't been made yet, or we can't afford it at the time. I think it's better to do it that way though, so you don't get burnt on one room and just fill it with random things so it's done. Our dining room is primarily black and white, and it desperately needs some color. I have been wanting head chairs for our dining set, and we are considering reproductions of either the "Louis Ghost" chairs or the "Mademoiselle" chairs, both by Kartell. We are leaning towards the Mademoiselle chair, so I did a little mock-up of what it might look like...

I guess I should keep dreaming, plus it didn't help that apartment therapy recently did THIS post on them.

New Year, New Table, New Injury...

... = new projects. Or the possibility of accomplishing a new project. I will address the "New Injury" first. Tim had an MRI the other day on his foot for pain he was having ever since the softball playoffs 5 weeks ago. Turns out he broke his heel, and we should find out how long he will be off from work on Monday, but could be anywhere from 4-6 weeks plus! Soooo never one to miss out on an opportunity to work on a DIY project, he plans on painting our kitchen cabinets. The last time we painted kitchen cabinets it took weeks to complete, and that was before kids. I will post pictures of the progress, if he is even capable of attacking such a project while injured.

The newest addition to our house is this cute table and chairs for our kitchen. (hence the urge to paint and complete this part of the house). We still plan to wallpaper and paint the walls but I haven't found a winner yet. We also hope to re-tile around the fireplace with some cool mosaic or subway tiles. But here is how it looks to date, still so unfinished looking to me, but we'll get there eventually.
