MIMI'S SHOES

I need to share this with everyone. As most of you know, Adella refers to me as her "Mimi" and I love it. I hope she always calls me Mimi, and I plan for it to be my Grandma name when the time comes. J.Crew has a new book called "Mimi's Shoes", which is about the relationship between a Grandmother and Granddaughter, and their love for shoes. Adella and I make sure to read it 2 times every night before she goes to bed. I'm thinking I should probably invest in another copy to put away for the future...

Adella & Nolan

Just a few hours after I gave birth, Adella came in to meet her new brother... First thing she said "MIMI!!!! Mimi's baby, I hold my baby" She already adores him.

I swear I'm not choking him, just burping. But Had to share those amazing cheeks that droop over my hands. And Adella really likes touching them.

I guess it's time to change the name of our blog.

Swim Lessons

Adella started taking swimming lessons last week at Tadpoles Swim School which is right down the street from where we live. The pool is in the instructors back yard, it's a salt water solar heated pool that is around 87 degrees so it's great for toddlers. The lessons are private, 15 minutes long, and 4 days a week. The first few days I had to go hide so Della couldn't see me annnnd she cried. I think the hardest part was getting her used to being with someone she didn't know. She doesn't go to daycare or have any babysitters other than family, so being with someone she didn't know was a little shocking. By day 3 she was comfortable and excited to go swim with "Miss Alex". She went from clenching on to me, to happily jumping in the pool with her instructor. Tim went the last day and got in the water with them so that he could continue working on everything Miss Alex taught her, but Della wanted to swim with Miss Alex instead.

This is the face she makes when anticipating going under, and she lets out a little squeal of excitement...
Swimming alone with flippers...
Jumping in to Miss Alex and turning around to grab the wall...

Done...

...with the nursery and mobile project I took on. It came out pretty cute and looks adorable as it sways with the slightest breeze. It's made from quilting rings and little wood cut-out's. Now we just need the bebe to come! I'm still having irregular contractions and have the waddle down pretty good now. Tomorrow I see the doctor so hopefully she can somehow get things going if I am not in labor before then. At least I will have made it to Adella's last swim lesson tomorrow. She is (as she puts it) "swimming like a fish, no turtle". Will post pics of her swimming with Miss Alex tomorrow!

The Nursery

I have been running around trying to get last minute finishing touches done with the nursery. Still working on a little mobile for him, for some reason I decided to make one myself... I wish we hadn't waited till the last minute to work on his room, it's been giving me anxiety even though he won't be in there for a while. Lesson learned. Here's how it looks:

Summer Nights

We haven't really had a chance to make it to the beach for a bonfire and bbq this year, so we got a little hand me down fireplace from my parents for our own backyard. Now all we need are some marshmallows!

Adella stayed up WAY past her bedtime and got a little crazy....

Tutu's Playroom

Tutu recently converted part of my old bedroom into a magical playroom for Adella. After I moved out it was used for storage and all the random things that had no home. She purchased most of the pieces from Ikea, Homegoods, and Target. But you would never know. The other part of the room is now a music room, where Adella listens to old Disney records over and over again. I have so many fun memories of playing in my grandparents playrooms when I was little and I know our kids will adore this one. Thanks Tutu. Now go ahead and drool.

The dress up corner is my favorite part.

I had to include this one of Adella struggling to get Tim's beer with such determination.

Harvest Time

Our garden has been producing like crazy lately. We've added a couple more raised bed planters so we are able to start growing a lot more now. I am hoping to get some winter squash started, so that it will be ready by the time the fall rolls around. Nothing like a little butternut and acorn squash with brown sugar....

If you're nice to us and we like you, you might get something like this.....
Or this....

Bday BBQ

We had a few of Adella's friends over to BBQ and celebrate her birthday a day early. Even though we don't have big parties for her (yet), we still like to make the day special by decorating the house in bright colors and balloons. I will upload an album from the day on shutterfly, I took over 150 pictures, but here are a few highlights from the day.

**It is impossible to get all the kids to smile and look at the camera at the same time

Adella is 2!!

Happy Birthday to Adella!! And happy giving birth day to Lexi!! More pics from yesterday's bbq coming soon!

Final Countdown

Cue the music....

Had another appointment today and I'm 1 cm dilated and he is really low, so hopefully I will have another week before little Jim enters our lives. Tim took this picture the other day, we're not having maternity photo's taken this time around, funny how things change with the second. We'd rather have a newborn photo session and more family photo's taken in the fall. But he did a pretty good job with a little direction! :) Helloooo thunda thighs!!

Little Chef

Making "Pumpkin" with Dada. She LOVES pumpkin pudding, and it's not easy finding cooking or canned pumpkin year round. Pay no mind to my gigantic gut.

Softball

This past weekend Tim played in a softball tournament with his firehouse against a bunch of other firemen. It was hosted by their union so they put on a big BBQ and had a bunch of fun things for kids to do. Tim's firehouse is in Baldwin Park, where they first started In-N-Out and is also home to In-N-Out University! Google it. So Naturally their team was "Animal Style". They placed 3rd after playing 6 games that day. (I think? We left after 2, nap time)Tim also plays in a local softball league with a game every week, so he was the MVP..... of course ;o)

Running around the field after a game
Believe it or not this one went over the fence...
This one too....
"Mimi, I go in firetruck...." over and over and over and over and over....
