Our Garden

One of the many projects we have been trying to tackle is building a small patio garden. I started sowing seeds within about a week of moving in, and they went nuts, germinating within a few days! So Tim built a raised bed planter, and we got some old whiskey barrels and pots to plant everything in. We had no idea how much time and effort goes into even the smallest of gardens. I did a lot of research on which vegetables grow best in our climate (luckily that's pretty much everything) and how to plant accordingly, north to south, vegetable pairings, etc. There were so many options of what to plant, but we ended up growing vegetables that would allow for us to have fresh salads (and more) each week. Here's what we have growing:

Romaine, bronze leaf, loose leaf lettuce. Green onions, chives, white cooking onions. Spinach, zucchini, cucumbers, hmmmm oh yes, bell peppers and chili's. Heirloom, beefsteak and cherry tomatoes. I think that's about it. In addition to the mandarin oranges, lemons, and another type of orange tree that were already here when we moved in.

It's been a lot of work and I find myself to be a slave to the garden every day. I also have more seeds germinating so I am constantly hovering over them to make sure they grow well. We are working towards a drip system, and it's installed, just have a few kinks to work out. So I have been watering by hand everyday.............. Here are a few picks!

Dance Video

Ballet

Adella has been taking "Mom and Me" Ballet classes once a week with a few of her friends. The first half of class is ballet and then she changes into her tap shoes, it is the CUTEST thing ever!! Most dance studios require the kids to be at least 2 1/2 (at the youngest) but a friend of mine put this group together so we could get them used to being in a studio with the moms around. Unfortunately she needs to be a few years older to start irish step dancing, but as soon as she is old enough we will be all over it!! I just hope she enjoys dancing as much as I do.... not that she'll have a choice ;o)

Her first ever dance shoe fitting...

First day of dance!

Bad Blogger

I know I have been a BAD BLOGGER.... we have been SOO busy lately that it has been difficult to find time to update our blog. Where to begin....

We are happily moved and mostly settled in our new house. We started furnishing and working on small projects here and there, and it is really starting to feel like home. I will upload house pics soon.

Somehow I started working again, only now as a Wardrobe Stylist. I got in with an agency and basically borrow or buy clothes from different designers to dress models/musicians/actors for whatever the project may be. It's been mostly magazines since I have started. I really enjoy styling, and I am able to schedule everything around the days that Tim is home. It's nice to get the creative juices flowing again and I work with a great team of artists. I will be launching a website soon of all my work and will be sure to let everyone know when that happens.

The pregnancy is going really well and really fast. I've got about 6 more weeks till the due date. We started working on his room and need just a few finishing touches. We still need to get a bunch of baby "stuff", as I made the mistake of getting everything pink for Adella.... I took full advantage of having a girl :)! He is really active and it feels like there is a little alien in there, sometimes I feel like he is trying to push his way out. At this point I am getting in to the really uncomfortable stage. I feel heavy, and exhausted all the time! I am going to be starting my "maternity leave" from styling, so that I can focus on getting everything ready for him and try to get a few more projects done around the house.

Here is a recent pic of Adella with her friend Devon. She gets a little obnoxious when I ask her to say "cheese" over and over again...
